SMALL NATIONS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

A proud moment for Jersey, eighth place with wins against Cyprus and San Marino and a draw against Guernsey.

Favourites Andorra won the overall tournament, with the Faroe Islands in second, Luxembourg third and Malta fourth.

Jersey hosted the 8th European Small Nations team tournament from 28 October to 5 November at the Pomme D’Or Hotel in St. Helier.

Teams consisted of 4 players plus a reserve and it was an all play all tournament over 9 rounds. The timetable was;

  1. Arrival date and opening ceremony, Saturday 28 October,
  2. Round 1 , Sunday 29 October,
  3. Rounds 2 and 3, Monday 30 October
  4. Round 4, Tuesday 31 October,
  5. Rounds 5 and 6, Wednesday 1 November,
  6. Round 7, Thursday 2 November
  7. Round 8, Friday 3 November
  8. Round 9, Saturday 4 November followed by Closing Ceremony.
